Porcelain collectibles
The secret of translucent Chinese porcelain was re-discovered in 18th century Europe and led to a fashion for collecting porcelain vases, figurines and animal models. Early in the 19th century English potteries developed a new type of porcelain body known as bone china and this has been widely used for collectibles ever since. We are the world's largest dealer in porcelain collectibles from the Royal Doulton factory in Stoke-on-Trent.
Doulton opened a factory for producing bone china in 1884 and within a few years the artists at their Burslem studio were producing magnificent hand-painted vases and service plates for exhibition around the world. They also introduced a collection of ceramic figurines in a Parian porcelain body, known as Vellum. Doulton is most famous, however, for their HN series of figurines, most of which are made of fine bone china and are amongst the most desirable porcelain collectibles.
Ceramic figurines
The quality and variety of Royal Doulton figurines and toby jugs are exceptional in the collectibles industry - there are pretty ladies, cute child studies, and characters inspired by literature, history, film and theatre. The ceramic figurines come in a huge variety of colors and range in size from prestige pieces up to 20 inches, to standard around 8 inches, to miniatures at 3 inches tall. Many different artists have contributed to the HN series and amongst the most famous are Leslie Harradine, Peggy Davies and Mary Nicoll. Nearly all their designs are now retired from production, which can make them hard to find, but we search the world for the best examples.
