Royal Doulton
If you're looking for any kind of Doulton antiques and porcelain collectibles then you've come to the right place. We are the world's largest dealer and have been in the business for over 30 years. We specialize in finding rare or unusual figurines and character jugs for collectors and we also carry a huge inventory of new and recently retired ceramic figurines and collectibles.
Founded in 1815, the company began making art pottery in Lambeth, London during the 1870s. At the same time, they acquired another factory in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, where they made art pottery, figurines, character jugs and other collectible ceramics. The company became Royal Doulton in 1901 when King Edward VII bestowed the royal warrant. Collectors have appreciated the quality and diversity of Doulton products for more than a hundred years and you can see their wide-ranging appeal on our web site, which is classified by collecting categories, for example figurines, flambé or series ware.
Royal Doulton Mugs
A mug is a face in old English slang so the name aptly describes the face pitchers made by the famous British china company. The idea of making a container in the form of a face goes back to pre-historic times and Royal Doulton mugs are a continuation of this tradition. They were the brain-wave of Charles Noke, the art director of the company's Burslem factory in the 1930s, and the mugs have continued to be made to the present day.
We stock a wide range of Royal Doulton mugs, known also as character jugs. They come in four main sizes - large, small, miniature and tiny - and range in height from 7 ½ inches right down to 1 ¼ inches. Keen collectors endeavour to find complete sets in the size most suited to their display area and we can help locate rare models and elusive limited editions. Over the years, company artists have been inspired by famous faces from literature, history and current affairs and we have recently commissioned a collection of American Presidents.
